Sergio Aguero and (another) Covid-19 conspiracy
Another footballer, another heart issue, another wild leap in the world of Covid-19 conspiracies.
The ghouls are back ladies and gentlemen. Another high profile footballer suffered what must have been a frightening experience related to their cardiac health and the amateur physicians and reckoners put two and two together and got medical genocide.
Sergio Aguero, whilst playing in his first full start for Barcelona last weekend, suddenly clutched at his chest shortly before half-time. The former Manchester City goal-machine appeared to be in discomfort and briefly went to the ground, although never lost consciousness.
He walked, of his own volition, off the field of play and was taken to hospital for tests, as a precaution.
Spanish publication SPORT detailed how Aguero was diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat.
Thankfully, Aguero is under incredible care. He is being treated by Dr. Josep Brugada, a cardiologist of such high regard he has a heart disease named after him. The Argentine striker has been ruled out for three months whilst, as Barcelona comment in an official statement, “the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process.”
Unfortunately, just like after Christian Eriksen’s shocking cardiac arrest at the European Championships in the summer, social media was soon abuzz with misleading and misinformed guesswork from the anti-vax crowd - suggesting Aguero’s heart problem may have been caused by some form of Covid vaccination.
I won’t share their tweets, they don’t deserve the limelight.
Hell, even popular American conspiracy freakshow InfoWars got in on the act with a woefully misinformed “news” article (again, I’ll spare you the link).
But the general gist was this. A belief that Aguero's heart problem had been triggered by some form of Covid vaccine.
The fact Aguero has also been a clear advocate of the vaccination programme in both Argentina and Barcelona also made him an even more juicy target. In September, he spoke in Catalan to local publication Salut, advising the eligible population in the region to get vaccinated.
“Do it for yourself,” he said.”Be responsible in solidarity. For you. For all.”
A nice sentiment. But not to those desperate to find a connection between Aguero’s condition and the vaccine. This was a red flag to a bull.
Now, in the eyes of the peddlers, Aguero was seemingly suffering a karmic punishment for his pro-vaccination stance.
But whilst the ghoulish gallery would love to attribute the Covid vaccine to Aguero’s recent issue, it does not stack up when considering the player’s history.
This is not the first time Aguero has suffered a similar incident in almost identical circumstances.
In November 2017, the pre-Covid times, Aguero suffered a dizzy spell shortly after half-time whilst playing for Argentina against Nigeria in an international friendly in Krasnodar, Russia.
Reports suggested he had fainted but Manchester City, his club at the time, quickly cleared up the issue.
“Sergio never lost consciousness, and was taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks.”
It also swiftly emerged that Aguero had suffered from cardiac issues in his early development.
As reported by Sky Sports at the time, Argentinian team doctor Donato Villani explained how the hospital trip was a precaution considering a historical issue with his heart.
"He felt bad twice, and with the medical history he has, since he was operated on when he was 15, we wanted to be sure it was nothing.”
In the aftermath of last weekend’s event, SPORT reported that Aguero had also suffered a similar issue at just 12-years-old and that El Pais, another publication, was suggesting he had suffered an event 10 days prior to the Alaves incident.
So, unless the disingenuous hot takers believe the Covid-19 vaccine has the power of afflicting diseases via time travel, it seems as though Aguero suffered a recurrence of a previous issue - something that afflicted him before anyone had even uttered the phrase Covid-19.
Of course, there are rare occasions when there have been adverse reactions to vaccination.
There is no official word on Aguero’s confirmed vaccination status. However, it would seem likely he is vaccinated (not immunised, Aaron Rodgers) given his proactive public stance and his presence in the Copa America winning Argentina squad over the summer. Vaccination was mandatory for the tournament and teams were supplied the Chinese Sinovac option for those not yet jabbed.
Aguero, unfortunately, was simply another easy target to the bad-faith actors looking to find a connection to further empower their own message.
I mean, why not connect Aguero’s heart issue to another, far more likely, contributing factor? Aguero himself confirmed in January that he was suffering from Covid, which is known to potentially cause long-term cardiac issues - far more regularly than that of the vaccine.
But that would be ridiculous, right? Randomly assigning a cause for a condition, throwing around your reckons on a person’s medical issue, to make some morbid point.
So don’t do it for the vaccine.
Never forget. This guy gave us one of English football’s most defining moments. So just wish him all the best and hope you get to hear an elongated “AGUEROOOOO” again sometime soon.
Calling everyone names for questioning the safety of the shots that are now proven to be much less safe and effective than what was initially promised, and then expecting us to believe that this top athlete has always been totally sick. Sure. In the end the truth will win, and I hope for you that you won't miss the exit when it's time to get off the propaganda train.
so if he had a pre-existing heart condition, and he passed a physical in June to transfer from Man City to Barca, AND was vaxxed - there is no room in your mind (crowded as it is with ad hominem attacks) that the mRNA might have exacerbated this? Are you a cardiologist? just curious...
